'Onggi' tiles, permanent collection of the V&A Museum's Asian collection
                  1 March 2025
The breathable tile Réspirer, made using Korea's traditional ‘onggi clay’ material, has been permanently added to the Asian Collection Design section of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Onggi clay, which allows air to pass through while blocking water, has been used as a traditional Korean material for jars and bowls used for fermenting food due to these properties.
SWNA designed and produced this material by experimenting with its characteristics as both interior and exterior building materials.
